The Avalon Pier . Avalon, New Jersey . Watercolor . 12" x 16"

... The Avalon Pier existed from 1929 until 1979. This painting represents the pier's appearance, circa the late 1960's. Marian's Pokerino is located on the lower right, with Charlie's Abbotts Ice Cream, over to the left. The Avalon Theatre, ticket window at the front center, occupied the majority of the first level, while the Marine Ballroom catered to teen dances on the upper floor. An association of Avalon citizens is raising funds for a bronze plaque to be erected on the Avalon boardwalk to commemorate the old Avalon Pier. A limited edition of 100 signed and numbered, 16.5" x 23", color reproductions of this watercolor are for sale, with proceeds directed to that funding.
