Canadian National FPA-4 CN#6789 at Spencer . North Carolina . Watercolor . 14" x 20"

... a run by... May 31, 2014... at the North Carolina Transportation Museum "Streamliners at Spencer" event. This FPA-4, was built for the Canadian National Railway, by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1959. It is a design variant based on the ALCO FPA-2, fitted with the 1,800 HP, V-12, ALCO 251 prime mover. CN #6789 was transferred to Via Rail Canada in the late 1970's and retired in 1989. It was acquired privately in 1994 and restored to it's original Canadian National livery. CN #6789 currently pulls excursion trains for the Monticello Railway Museum in Illinois.
