... Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States, built and lived on this 1,000 plus acre, cotton plantation from 1804 until his death in 1845. His wife, Rachel (Donelson) Jackson died in the days between his election and inauguration in 1829. They are both buried on the grounds. The Jackson Mansion is the most accurate, preserved example of an early American presidential homestead in the United States. The Andrew Jackson Foundation oversees the preservation and maintenance of this National Historic Landmark Site, located in Davidson County near Nashville, Tennessee.
