Aerotrain . General Motors Electro-Motive Division . Watercolor . 12" x 16"

... Three Harley Earl designed LWT12 diesel locomotives were built and two entered passenger service, pulling matching coach trains in 1956.
They were quite streamlined in appearance, but ultimately proved to be inefficient in service. The trains' innovative air cushion suspension failed
at high speed and the locomotives proved to be difficult to maintain. Both trains were retired in 1966. Rock Island #2 is preserved at the
National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin and Locomotive #3 is at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri.
This watercolor was painted for a Bella Terra Maps publication.

A Giclee Print is available of this watercolor painting / railroad art.
