... the Lehigh Valley Transit Company (LVT) purchased 43 of the Cincinnati Car Company 1000 Series Trolley in 1938 to replace aging Series 800 cars. Illustrated southbound on the LVT's north-south branch between Allentown and Lansdale on Main Street at the intersection with Broad Street in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. This line closely followed and often shared streets and roadway of the Old Bethlehem Pike. At its peak, the LVT had two different routes to terminals in Philadelphia and a route each to Slatington and Stroudsburg to the north. These Liberty Bell Trolleys remained in service until the LVT ceased operations on September 6, 1951.
